ELTAI Report


From the day of its inception in May 2013, ELTAI Thoothukudi chapter strives hard to reach the English teaching community. The chapter functions from Annammal College of Education, Thoothukudi, South Tamilnadu. Financially this chapter is supported by the college management. The college Secretary is the patron of this chapter.

This chapter has organized two international conferences successfully in the years 2013 2018. Several National level workshops were organized on Virtual Learning, Mobile Learning, Communication skills, Business English etc., Dr.S.Rajagopal, patronon of ELTAI gives scholarly advice for the smooth functioning of the chapter.

Thoothukudi chapter has successfully organized Shakespear Lives 2016, which is a global programme introduced by the British Council. Literary Fests on the Bard of Avon was organized for both Schools and Colleges separately. A national seminar on the topic Shakespeare and Culture: Politics and Society was organized. Selected papers presented in the two international conferences and one national conference were published in the form of books with ISBN.

This chapter is regularly supported by RELO and British Council and international speakers were sent to serve as speakers in conferences and to organize workshops.

The chapter has signed MoU with the Fisheries College and Research Institute,Thoothukudi to conduct Basic English Proficiency Course for I year BFSc students. Every Saturday classes are conducted for the students regularly from the academic year 2013 – 14 till date. Spoken English classes are conducted regularly for the pre-service teachers of Annammal College of Education every day. English Orientation programme is organized for a week in the beginning of every academic year by the members of ELTAI Thoothukudi chapter for the pre-service teachers.
